Road freight
Pharma road freight transport is a core capability of PHSE. We provide GDP compliant temperature controlled domestic and international road transport services on a worldwide basis for all load configurations from small parcels to pallets size shipments, from vans to large articulated trucks, and temperatures from -30°C to +25°C.
PHSE provides services through a combination of its own fleet and those of carefully selected and qualified partners. Importantly, to ensure compliance and integrity of quality and service PHSE does not permit subcontracting by its partner network. Within Europe, PHSE has newly registered vehicles (both tractors and semi-trailers) that will (never older than 4 years) ensure maximum efficiency at all times, with limited consumption and emissions that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
All semi-trailers, certified for pharma transport, are multi-temperature (-30°C to +25°C) and some of them also allow double deck loading, raising the maximum number of transportable pallets to 66. They are also approved for the transport of ADR hazardous goods and are equipped with trolley straps and load securing posts.
Our road freight services include:
- Active temperature controlled vehicles, to manage load configurations from small parcels to pallet quantities;
- All loads are tracked via PHSE’s ‘control tower’ visibility platform. Customers receive regular milestone updates;
- Brokerage and customs services temperature-controlled international groupage with specialisation to/from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) with two departures per week.

First class service: technology, traceability and safety
The temperature on board the vehicle is constantly monitored by devices that are each connected to its printer.
In addition to temperature, these devices detect the position of the vehicle and communicate in real time with our software, which in turn is connected to the “PHSE Real-time Tracking Solution” platform validated by an external company qualified according to GAMP 5 and FDA CFR 21 part 11. The software is also able to send both customisable temperature alerts based on the product stability data requested by the customer, and the entire shipment tracking, in real time, even via email automatically.
In addition, temperature control is monitored not only by the driver via the on-board display, but also by our 24/7 “Real-time Control Tower” which is able to intervene, at any time, on any signalling and/or anomaly of temperature alarms, door openings and any unplanned stops, applying the most appropriate action in each case according to the eventual problem encountered.
PHSE semi-trailers, in accordance with GDP guidelines, are all mapped summer/winter and equipped with temperature detection probes calibrated annually.
Their baseline security level complies with TAPA TFR level 1. They are also equipped with the highest level of GPS security system, which includes anti-door-opening devices, anti-jamming to recognise possible theft attempts, on-board speakerphone with silent listen-only function, panic button, ‘Geo-fense’ to eliminate the possibility and risk of taking routes and/or routes other than those planned and/or authorised.
These features are supported by our 24/7 in-house ‘Control Tower‘ system and insurance advice from industry experts, making our transport solutions among the most efficient and secure on the market.
